The Works of Our Father

Today we got together again to share with each other what God showed us through this lesson and what he has been doing. I was very encouraged by our time together. I see again that God is not finished with me yet and that He wants to draw us all nearer to Him. I pray that He will overflow in my life in a way that will touch many others as well. I see how, I myself do not have anything to give but with Him all things are possible. I want to be transparent and honest in all things. I want to be willing to share God's word, and just become .... like an open book, I guess you could say. That isn't easy for me, but I want to do it for God.
This study is not about obtaining more knowledge for ourselves. It's about God doing a miracle in our lives and bringing us to a point, we didn't know existed. Is He bringing us to a whole new level again? Is He bringing us revival? I pray that it is evident that He is. I pray that He Himself has His hand over all of us and is blessing us with a real touch of Him.

We will not find satisfaction in anything else, but Him. The world can fall apart around us, the ecomomy can be in a pit, things can look pretty gloomy but with our eyes on Jesus and the ultimate prize, we will not fall into the world's pit.
I pray oh Father, that you will keep us in your arms and that your spirit will take over our lives in a way that we can not even put into words. Lord make us a light to shine brightly, and lead many more to the light. May your love flow through each of us and may our actions show your love to those around us. I am so unworthy to be your child and I know that I deserved punishment for my sins. Lord, I thank you that you have taken my punishment for me and that you are still with us. I pray for all of those who are seeking you. Bless them all with a revived heart. In the name of Jesus , I pray. Amen.

Breaking Up The Ground

Hi girls,
We finally started our "Seeking Him" study. We are all very excited. I hope my posting won't confuse any of you because you are in lesson 4 or is it 5.
We weren't sure how to start. We thought the first day would be a lot of introduction on the video but it was only a few minutes long so we dove right in to lesson one. I like the analogy about the farmer having to work up the ground before any planting can be done. And when that happens in our hearts, its going to hurt(OUCH). And its going to reveal whats under there(YUK). Maybe something hidden and buried a long time. But we have to stick to it. We would never get off the surgery table and say "I'm out of here" before the surgeon was completely done with us. In the same way we can't quit the study before its complete. And I have a feeling even when the study is over the surgery won't be done. Scary but exciting...
"If we want to return to God, we must be prepared to break up the hard, barren ground of our spiritual lives."

Plowing the Field

Yesterday, we watched the first part of the video by Nancy Leigh Demoss.

She talks about a farmer and the things he has to do to prepare his field;

The plowing that needs to be done to break up a hardened ground. This takes a lot work on the farmer's part.

Often this is how it is with our hearts. We become hardened and we have to let God dig in and break us up before we can be used by Him. Let Him get to the root of our problems, dig up any bitterness, fear and worry. We can't do this ourselves, just as a field can't prepare itself. The field requires a farmer, just as we require the Holy Spirit to do this work in us.

Are we ready to let Him do this?

Are we ready to let Him dig in and search our hearts?

Are we ready to admit where we have done wrong and make these things right?

Can we let go of our expectations of other people and just let God be # 1?

Is He our first love; if not do we want Him as our first love?

Do we want to be revived?

If so, He is able to do great things in us!

He will refresh our spirits and renew our minds. We will be able to resolve any conflicts and let go of hurts. Some of these things sound a little painful, but I want to trust that He will do good things through it.

I am not sure yet what God all wants to do with my life, but I know He wants to be close by my side. I know that is what he wants with all of His people. So be glad and excited, that He loves you that much. He really does love us first, before we even know how to love Him back.
May God speak to us as we begin lesson two this coming week.

"Teach us Lord, how to love you back with our whole hearts."

Praise God!

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
Psalm 85:6-9

Going Deeper in the Word

Seeking Him is divided into lessons.
Each lesson has 5 days worth of work and reading.
One thing I did today was go deeper in the word. In lesson 1 is a section of verses to look up. They are the following:

2 Kings 22:8-13, 18-20

Ezra 10:1-12

Jeremiah 3:19-4:4

James 4:4-10

You might already have your book and are waiting to go on, but if you don't go ahead and look up these verses.

How do they speak to you?

what other verses have spoken to you lately? (maybe keep a list of verses that really stand out for you)

Someone asked me a while ago what the following verse meant to me...

"Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you." Hosea 10:12

What does it mean to you?

If you have finished Day One of your study, you are welcome to share about it here already.
