Quiet Time With God

When do you take the time to do your daily lessons? I have heard so often the best time to study His is right in the morning,  but can't seem to make that work. I find the only thing that is good for me right in the morning is some time in prayer, but as far as devotions and Bible study goes, I just don't get as much out of it during that time. I use to feel guilty for that, especially after hearing testimonies of Christians who were so comitted to that. Now I decided, instead of feeling guilty, I will set a time that is right for the way I am and concentrate on what He teaches me not when I do my devotions. What are your (honest) thoughts?

Memory Verses

One of my goals is to memorize all the memory verses through this study this time. It's an area I struggle with or just don't take enough time for. When I try to get our kids to memorize scripture, I often feel bad because I don't do that enough myself. I may need accountability in this area now, so do ask me about it from time to time.
Memory Verse:
“Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” Hosea 10:12

Breaking Up The Ground

Hi girls,
We finally started our "Seeking Him" study. We are all very excited. I hope my posting won't confuse any of you because you are in lesson 4 or is it 5.
We weren't sure how to start. We thought the first day would be a lot of introduction on the video but it was only a few minutes long so we dove right in to lesson one. I like the analogy about the farmer having to work up the ground before any planting can be done. And when that happens in our hearts, its going to hurt(OUCH). And its going to reveal whats under there(YUK). Maybe something hidden and buried a long time. But we have to stick to it. We would never get off the surgery table and say "I'm out of here" before the surgeon was completely done with us. In the same way we can't quit the study before its complete. And I have a feeling even when the study is over the surgery won't be done. Scary but exciting...
"If we want to return to God, we must be prepared to break up the hard, barren ground of our spiritual lives."

Plowing the Field

Yesterday, we watched the first part of the video by Nancy Leigh Demoss.

She talks about a farmer and the things he has to do to prepare his field;

The plowing that needs to be done to break up a hardened ground. This takes a lot work on the farmer's part.

Often this is how it is with our hearts. We become hardened and we have to let God dig in and break us up before we can be used by Him. Let Him get to the root of our problems, dig up any bitterness, fear and worry. We can't do this ourselves, just as a field can't prepare itself. The field requires a farmer, just as we require the Holy Spirit to do this work in us.

Are we ready to let Him do this?

Are we ready to let Him dig in and search our hearts?

Are we ready to admit where we have done wrong and make these things right?

Can we let go of our expectations of other people and just let God be # 1?

Is He our first love; if not do we want Him as our first love?

Do we want to be revived?

If so, He is able to do great things in us!

He will refresh our spirits and renew our minds. We will be able to resolve any conflicts and let go of hurts. Some of these things sound a little painful, but I want to trust that He will do good things through it.

I am not sure yet what God all wants to do with my life, but I know He wants to be close by my side. I know that is what he wants with all of His people. So be glad and excited, that He loves you that much. He really does love us first, before we even know how to love Him back.
May God speak to us as we begin lesson two this coming week.

"Teach us Lord, how to love you back with our whole hearts."

Praise God!

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
Psalm 85:6-9

Going Deeper in the Word

Seeking Him is divided into lessons.
Each lesson has 5 days worth of work and reading.
One thing I did today was go deeper in the word. In lesson 1 is a section of verses to look up. They are the following:

2 Kings 22:8-13, 18-20

Ezra 10:1-12

Jeremiah 3:19-4:4

James 4:4-10

You might already have your book and are waiting to go on, but if you don't go ahead and look up these verses.

How do they speak to you?

what other verses have spoken to you lately? (maybe keep a list of verses that really stand out for you)

Someone asked me a while ago what the following verse meant to me...

"Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you." Hosea 10:12

What does it mean to you?

If you have finished Day One of your study, you are welcome to share about it here already.
